Hugh Jackman discusses the difficulties encountered while filming The Son.

Hugh Jackman faced a lot of highs and lows while filming The Son.

During an appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert on Monday, the 54-year-old actor talked about how he was going through changes as a father and a son while working on the film.

After playing a scene from the moving film, in which Jackman’s character Peter’s life with his new partner Beth (Vanessa Kirby) changes significantly after learning that their son Nicholas (Zen McGrath) is struggling and missing a lot of school, Jackman acknowledged he “did hug my kids, especially tight, after that.”

When he mentioned that his father also passed away while the movie was being made, Colbert questioned him about whether these experiences had made him reevaluate his responsibility as a parent in a different way.

Jackman said, “I think I’m a different dad now as a result of that.”
