Huma Qureshi asserts that ‘Indian actors play a crucial role in Western cinema’

Actress Huma Qureshi recently shared her thoughts on the representation of Indian cinema in the West. She believes that Indian cinema has been able to capture the imagination of the West for a long time, and its representation is getting better day by day, especially after some Indian projects made it to the Oscars.

Qureshi highlighted the achievements of the Telugu film “RRR,” which won the Oscar for Best Original Song and other important recognitions in the US this year, and the Best Documentary Short Film Oscar winner “The Elephant Whisperers.” She felt proud of the recognition that India had received in two completely different genres.

The actress credited Indian actors Irrfan Khan and Priyanka Chopra for playing a major role in paving the way for Indian cinema to be recognized globally. According to Hindustan Times, Qureshi said, “Their journeys are inspiring, and they have clearly been able to break the stereotypes associated with Indian actors.”

Huma Qureshi rose to fame with the film “Gangs of Wasseypur 2” and has since starred in several hit films like “Badlapur,” “Monica O My Darling,” “Jolly LLB,” “Dedh Ishqiya,” and more.
